Marketing is changing fast. Glossy ads and one-off celebrity shout-outs are giving way to something more human: creators. People trust people, especially the ones they already follow, learn from and feel connected to. For an indie studio like Superheart, that shift is huge.
Not one megaphone, but an army of micro-influencers
When people hear “influencer marketing” they often picture a single huge name with millions of followers. We think the future looks different. It’s a sustained army of well-performing micro-influencers: creators with smaller but deeply loyal audiences who actually listen to them.
Why micro over mega?
- Trust. A creator with a few thousand engaged followers often has a stronger, more personal relationship with them than a celebrity has with millions.
- Local reach. Local creators speak the language, know the culture and understand what their community cares about.
- Consistency. Many creators posting regularly over months build more lasting awareness than one big spike that fades in a week.
- Execution. The best micro-creators know their craft. They know what their audience responds to and how to tell a story in their own voice.
It’s not about one viral moment. It’s about showing up, authentically, again and again.
Ocean creators: a perfect fit
Tap Oceans lives at the meeting point of gaming and the ocean, and there’s an incredible community of ocean photographers, divers, marine educators and conservation storytellers already out there. Many of them are closely connected with ocean organizations and see the reefs, whales and wildlife they document every day.
Imagine a reef photographer sharing their real dive footage next to the reef they’ve built in Reef Rescue. Or a marine biologist explaining the real science behind a creature players just discovered in the game. That’s the kind of connection an ad can’t buy.
Reaching gamers authentically
Gamers are experts at spotting marketing a mile away. What works is honesty: real people playing, reacting, teaching and sharing what they genuinely enjoy. Creators bring that. They can:
- play Tap Oceans live and chat with their community as they go;
- share cozy moments, decorated reefs and rescued creatures;
- bridge the game to real-world ocean issues and the organizations working on them;
- bring ideas and feedback back to us, so the game gets better with its community.
The marketing of the future
We believe the most effective marketing is also the most human: long-term relationships with creators who share our values, telling real stories to audiences who trust them. It’s marketing that feels like community, and for a game about caring for the planet, that matters.
Calling all creators
We’re on the lookout for creators and influencers to grow with us, especially ocean photographers and videographers, divers, marine educators, cozy and casual game creators, and local voices with a loyal following, big or small.
If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you: hello@superheart.co. Let’s make some waves together. 🌊🎮💖
