Games are great at making us care. We’ve all felt a little tug of the heart when a virtual creature is in trouble, or a pang of pride when a place we’ve tended finally thrives. At Superheart we keep asking one question: what if that care didn’t stop at the edge of the screen?
With Tap Oceans, we’re building bridges between play and the real world, so that the time and love players put into our games can turn into real support for the oceans and the people protecting them.
Play that connects you to real organizations
When you restore a reef or rescue a pod in Tap Oceans, you’re learning about real issues: coral bleaching, plastic pollution, ghost nets, overfishing. We want to take the next step and connect those moments to the organizations doing the work in the water.
That means in-game moments that introduce real conservation groups, missions inspired by their projects, and simple ways for players to get involved, whether that’s learning more, following along, or giving directly.
Donations through play
Not everyone can write a big cheque, but almost everyone can play. We’re designing ways for everyday play to add up to real contributions: special events, optional in-game items where part of the proceeds go to ocean nonprofits, and achievements that unlock real-world impact.
The key is transparency. Players should be able to see what their play made possible, and trust that it actually happened.
Innovative digital and physical commerce
Impact doesn’t have to live only inside the game. We’re exploring commerce that bridges both worlds:
- Digital items with purpose: cosmetic decorations, creatures and themed packs where a share goes to ocean causes.
- Physical goods that give back: merchandise and products from sustainability-minded brands that you can discover in the game and bring into your life.
- Bundles that connect the two, so buying something real can unlock something special in-game, and vice versa.
Done thoughtfully, this keeps games free and fun to play while giving players meaningful choices about how they support the cause.
Our technology partners
We don’t have to build all of this alone. We’re proud to highlight partners whose technology makes play-for-good possible:
- dots.eco helps games turn player actions into real, verified environmental impact, so a reward in the game can mean real-world good, with certificates players can see and share.
- Brands in Games connects games with brands in native, player-friendly ways, opening up integrations and commerce that fit naturally into the world rather than interrupting it.
Together, these tools help us close the loop between what happens in Tap Oceans and what happens in the ocean.
Building bridges through play
We believe games can be one of the most powerful ways to bring people together around a cause. They reach billions of people, across ages and countries, in moments when they’re open, relaxed and curious. That’s an incredible opportunity to inspire action.
So every feature we build asks: does this help a player feel connected to the real world, and give them a way to help? If the answer is yes, we’re on the right track.
Tiny taps, big waves. Let’s play for the planet together. 🌊💖
